- We believe in the Bible as our source of authority. It is the test of all doctrine and experience.
- We believe in the Triune God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The three are one, co-eternal and coequal.
- God the Son has existed forever with the Father. He is the Creator of all that exists.
- All of us have sinned and come short of God’s purpose for our lives.
- God so loved the world that He gave his only Son that we might be forgiven and have eternal life.
- Jesus was fully God and fully man. He came to reveal the Father and His love and to save all of us from sin and self destruction.
- Salvation is a free gift of God’s grace, received through faith alone.
- Salvation is experienced through repentance, faith and baptism.
- The 10 commandments are a guide for Christians. They are not a method of salvation. One of the commandments is “remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. We believe this commandment is still a guide for Christians.
- Obedience is the fruit of faith, not the root of Christian experience.
- Jesus will come again as Judge and Eternal King. When He does, He will make all things right.
- We believe in the continuing importance of the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
- The traditional family is an expression of God’s love in the world. Marriage is between a man and a woman
- The name Seventh-day Adventist notes two important teachings of the church. We believe in a literal, personal, glorious second, “Advent” of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This “Advent” concept is highlighted in the name Adventist. When Jesus Christ returns, the dead who are in Christ will be resurrected and the living will be caught up together with them to meet the Lord in the air. This is no secret event, for it is the climax of this earth’s history. His glorious return is called the “blessed hope” and is the theme of more than 2500 verses of scripture.
- The second teaching that is emphasized in our name is the Sabbath. In a time of tremendous stress, we see importance in Sabbath rest. God made the Sabbath a sanctuary in time. Jesus said that He is “Lord of the Sabbath.” He also said the Sabbath was made for man, not merely for the Jew. The seventh-day Sabbath is on Saturday and is the only day Christ ever made holy. In many ways the Sabbath symbolizes rest in Christ. We rest in Him for spiritual and physical renewal. Obedience to Christ only comes through an experience of salvation by grace, but in end times obedience to the commandments of God particularly reveals our loyalty to Him. (Revelation 14:12)
- Humans were given conditional immortality. But Adam and Eve believed they wouldn’t die if they ate of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Because they sinned, death has come to all of us. Death is a temporary sleep. When Jesus returns, those in Christ will be given immortality. The wicked will not continue to be barbequed forever. We have eternal life through Jesus or perish. There’s no eternal life in hell only in heaven. (John 3:16)
- Adventists believe in the importance of living a healthy and simple life style. They are at the forefront in providing health education programs for the community. Locally, we are able to offer Stop Smoking Seminars, Diabetes Education Programs, Depression Recovery and Stress Management Seminars and Healthy Lifestyle Classes.
- Adventists were born out of the Reformation movement and we cherish a unique prophetic ministry, drawing attention to the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation that have been and are being fulfilled.
